SPECIAL AWARDS

  • A trophy donated by Amaroo Motel Busselton will be awarded to the exhibitor gaining the most overall points in classes 1 to 16 inclusive.
  • A family tour pass to Ngilgi Cave will be awarded to the photo best overall entry from classes 1 to 16 inclusive donated by Geographe Bay Tourism Association.
  • A voucher donated by Inkas Jewellers will be awarded to the best photo overall from classes 11 to 16
  • Champion Ribbons will be awarded to the best exhibit in Part A, B, C/D.

HINTS:

  • Read the special regulations and keep to the photograph and mount sizes.
  • Keep your photographs simple.
  • Outdoor photographs of people and animals are best taken on an overcast day.
  • The best time to take photographs is before 10.00am or after 4.00pm.
  • Move in close to your subject.
  • When taking seascapes, check that the horizon is level.

PART A  –  BLACK & WHITE/MONOCHROME PRINTS

(Maximum size including mount – 30cm x 40cm/ 12inch x 16 inch).

Class
  • 1 Animal study.
  • 2 Seascape – capturing foreground and/or sky interest.
  • 3 Portrait – head and shoulder shot, single person only.
  • 4 Rural Landscape – an interesting image of rural Australia.


PART B  –  COLOUR PRINTS

(Maximum size including mount – 30cm x 40cm/ 12inch x 16 inch).

Class
  • 5 Native flora - must be in natural habitat.
  • 6 Portrait - more than 1 person, eg.Group shot, couples etc..
  • 7 Reflections – an image taken on a reflective surface, water, glass, mirror, metal etc.
  • 8 Night Shot – an image taken after dark not using the flash. 
  • 9 Sunrise/Sunset – capturing foreground interest, silhouettes, great skies etc.
  • 10 Open – any subject, excluding those above.

PART C  –  COLOUR POSTCARD (10cm X 15CM/ 4 inch x 6 inch)

(Mount may be any shape – Overall maximum mount size 1200 sq cm/ 192 sq inches).

Class
  • 11 Three prints - mounted together to tell a story.

PART D  –  COLOUR POSTCARD (10cm X 15CM/ 4 inch x 6 inch)

(Maximum size including mount 15cm x 20cm/ 6inch x 8 inch).

Class
  • 12 Native Orchid – must be in natural habitat.
  • 13 Seascape – image capturing wave action, with/without people..
  • 14 Sports Action – person/people participating in sporting ACTION..
  • 15 Macro – a small part of the subject, magnified to show detail.
  • 16 Digitally Manipulated – image creatively manipulated by the photographer using photo editing software.

PRIZE MONEY CAN BE COLLECTED SATURDAY AFTER 9 AM.


NOTE:

  • a) NOMINATION OF ENTRY forms will be received until 5:00pm Tuesday November 1st. A LIMIT OF THREE ENTRIES PER CLASS, PER PERSON. NO LATE NOMINATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
  • b)   EXHIBITS to be delivered by 12 noon, Wednesday November 2nd with exhibit ticket attached to the bottom of the print. EXHIBIT CARDS MUST NOT BE ON BACK OF PRINTS.
  • c) NO EXHIBITS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER CLOSING TIMES.

SPECIAL REGULATIONS:

  • In all classes the photographs must have been taken by the exhibitor and not previously won a prize at the Busselton Show.
  • All prints must be mounted on mounting boards. The exhibitor’s name and address must NOT appear on the front of the mount.
  • The thickness of print mount should be restricted to 5mm for ease of fixing to display boards. Entries must not be framed with or without glass.
  • Size of mounts should not exceed those specified otherwise entries will not be accepted.
  • Only one photograph per mount, unless otherwise specified.
  • The Bower Pavilion will be cleared of all persons, with the exception of Stewards, at 4pm on Saturday November 5th, re-opening from 4:15pm to 5pm for the removal of exhibits.  Re-entry will be by Receipt of Entry only.
